The daffodil saw its shadow in Charleston—Spring is here!!
You probably don’t know this but February 23, three weeks after Groundhog Day, is Daffodil Day. When the daffodils open and see their shadows, it means Spring is here. If they don’t see their shadows, then it means the Groundhog is right and you should put on some mittens.

10 cool and creative mailboxes on Sullivan's Island and Isle of Palms
You see them from a mile away. They’re like a quick preview of the quirky personality in the house behind. There’s always that funky mailbox that turns into a neighborhood landmark.
With the spell of great weather last weekend, I went on my first real bike ride of the year on Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms. Early into the ride, I saw a mailbox dressed up as a big blue crab, and I knew what my next blog post was going to be about.

What should a Charleston guide website look like?
Chucktown Deals has been around in SOME form for about a year now. Now that goes back to when I just finished making a logo and sketched out the layout of the pages on graph paper.
The site really went live (unofficially) in July 2009. It was on the slow growth model from the beginning. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one working on a Charleston business directory website.

Mt. Pleasant's disappearing waterfront
Charleston moves did a great piece on Mt. Pleasant’s historical waterfront. What a shame it’s all gone.
“To put this in perspective, Mt. Pleasant, a roughly 100-acre village at the time, had 1.4 miles of publicly accessible waterfront along Charleston Harbor. Today’s Mt. Pleasant comprises approximately 36,000 acres of land and has very little publicly accessible waterfront along Charleston Harbor.”

The rollback menu at Poogan's Porch might be the best deal in town
Plan on Poogan’s this week. You won’t regret it. After hearing about the rollback menu (where prices roll back to 1978) since last year, I finally made it into Poogan’s Porch with some friends last Thursday. What a deal!
Continue reading to see the menu.

Sunset from the Pitt Street Bridge
I had to spend some time outside after a long day working yesterday. So I headed into old Mt. Pleasant to spend some time brainstorming project ideas at the Pitt St. Bridge.
The scene didn’t disappoint. That low tide smell was enough to make the trip worthwhile.

Boone Hall Oyster Festival mud bath
I wish I’d stayed longer and took in the entertainment, but this is a little video I took of someone getting stuck in the mud pit by the parking lot at the Oyster Festival last weekend.
I ended up driving my friends car through the mud pit, which was the ONLY way out for thousands of cars. We left early. I wish I could’ve seen it an hour or two later.
