Cooper River Bridge from Mt. Pleasant Waterfront Park
September 15, 2009
You can’t get closer to the Bridge than this from dry land. From the pier head at the new Memorial Waterfront Park in Mt. Pleasant, you get quite a view.
Just opened this year, the fishing pier is impressive. The tabby (concrete made from cement and oyster shells) walkway extends way into the Cooper River. Modern architecture, lots of space and extras for fishing make this pretty swanky as far as piers go.
Unfortunately, you do have to pay for parking (which I can’t comprehend, honsestly). But maybe minds will change as they did for the recently overturned bicycle ban on the pier.
The pier makes a good turnaround for a quick jaunt over the Bridge from downtown.
